Climate Change with Smart Agriculture Program

Agriculture is one of the most severely affected sectors by climate change. Rising temperatures, unpredictable rainfall patterns, and increased frequency of extreme weather events have contributed to declining yields, crop failures, pest outbreaks, and growing food insecurity. As a result, supporting farmers with effective climate-smart solutions is essential to help them adapt, build resilience, and maintain productivity.

To address these challenges, we have developed several strategies that enable farmers to mitigate climate impacts, reduce greenhouse gas emissions, and enhance overall farm efficiency:

i. Precision Farming
This approach involves using advanced technologies such as GPS-guided tractors, drones, and data-driven decision tools. Precision farming ensures the accurate application of water, fertilizers, and pesticides, reducing waste and optimizing resource use while boosting crop performance.

ii. Drought-Resistant Crops
Promoting the use of improved seed varieties that are resilient to drought helps farmers withstand prolonged dry spells and maintain stable yields even under harsh climatic conditions.

iii. Conservation Agriculture
This sustainable farming method minimizes soil disturbance by eliminating or reducing tillage. It focuses on preserving the natural structure of the soil, improving water retention, promoting biodiversity, and enhancing long-term soil health.
